Music runs through
the roots of Fern Hill, just like the Appalachian soil they grew up on. Arwen and Lorien Cockman started playing before they could walk, performing with their father, John, and his family band, The Cockman Family. Over the years they have developed their own unique and dynamic sound that weaves together Appalachian, Canadian, Celtic and Western influences. As skilled multi-instrumentalists and songwriters, their music pays homage to the past while creating something fresh and heartfelt. Their recent album, Sister You Sang to Me, is a love letter to their musical heritage. Filled with rich harmonies and instrumentation, their songs tell stories that echo across generations.
“And as I was green and carefree, famous among the barns
About the happy yard and singing as the farm was home,
In the sun that is young once only,
Time let me play and be
Golden in the mercy of his means…”
Fern Hill, Dylan Thomas

Sister You Sang to Me is an album born out of love, nostalgia, and dedication to creating new and personal meaning within traditional music.
