Canadian Step Dance

Instructor: Lorien Cockman
Location: Fiddle Studio
Beginners: 4:30 – 5:00
Intermediate: 5:00 – 5:30

Our Canadian Step Dancing classes welcomes students of all ages and all levels to explore the rich, rhythmic traditions of Canadian hardshoe dance. Students will learn a blend of regional styles—including Sean-nós, Cape Breton, Ottawa Valley, and Québécois—focusing on musicality, footwork, and cultural context. The class is taught by Lorien Cockman and is rooted in a love of tradition and community learning. Our goal is to carry on and celebrate step dance traditions that are often overlooked within Old-Time music and dance, keeping these vibrant forms alive, accessible, and shared across generations.
